Use the original packaging if you have it

If you've kept the original box for a TV, computer, or other device, it's the best choice - it was designed specifically for that device and provides the best protection. If the original packaging isn't available, follow the recommendations below.

Take a photo before disconnecting

Before disconnecting cables from your computer, TV, or sound system, take a photo so you'll remember how to reconnect them later.

Labeling cables and accessories

• Tie or label each device's cables separately;
• Use bags for smaller accessories (mice, remote controls, chargers);
• Add a label indicating which device each set belongs to.

Protection inside the box

• Wrap screens (TVs, monitors) in soft material or towels;
• Don't place heavy items on top of boxes containing electronics;
• Fill empty spaces in the box so the device doesn't shift in transit;
• Don't stack electronics boxes on a wet surface on the ground.

Data safety

If you're moving computers or hard drives with important data, consider creating a backup before the move - an extra precaution that won't hurt.

Temperature considerations

Avoid leaving electronics in a vehicle in extreme heat or cold for a long time. If possible, let devices adjust to room temperature before turning them on in your new home.
